Golfing
A wonderful mixture of golf, all-year-round sunshine, tapas and bars has led to the Costa del Sol becoming the premier golfing resort worldwide. So important is golf to the economy of this region of southern Spain, that the Andalucian tourist board named the area “The Costa del Golf”. As recently as the early 1970’s the economy on the Costa del Sol was largely based around fishing and the production of olive oil, almonds and fortunately, sherry. Since these early days, the entire coastline has been transformed unrecognisably. There is now a modern airport at Malaga and all parts of the Costa del Sol are within an hour’s drive on the new Autopista A7 road.
